Fantozzi in Bologna: the exhibition at Grand Tour Italia and a cultural itinerary through the city

Fantozzi mostra a Bologna

There is a character who has managed to portray Italy better than any sociology textbook, making us laugh to the point of tears at our own misfortunes. We’re talking about Accountant Ugo Fantozzi.
From October 16, 2025 to March 29, 2026, Bologna hosts an unprecedented event: “Fantozzi!!! A Crazy Exhibition.” For the first time ever, the myth created by Paolo Villaggio receives a complete tribute at Grand Tour Italia (the evolution of FICO), in an exhibition that promises to be—quite literally—“monstrous!”

What to see at the Fantozzi exhibition in Bologna

Curated by Luca Bochicchio and Guido Andrea Pautasso, the exhibition is an immersive journey through pop culture and social satire. If you think you already know everything about the Accountant, get ready to be surprised.
The exhibition route (free admission, from Thursday to Sunday) includes:

  • Original memorabilia: over 100 vintage posters, playbills, comics, and props from Guido Andrea Pautasso’s personal collection.
  • Cinema and history: a screening of the original Battleship Potemkin (1925), allowing visitors to relive the legendary “total crap” moment in its original artistic context.
  • Family workshops: activities such as Fantozzi Montages and The Fantozzi Hunt!, perfect for those visiting Bologna with children.

A 2-day itinerary in Bologna: art, food, and irony

If you’re planning a weekend to visit the exhibition, here’s how to organize your 48 hours in Bologna without missing the best the city has to offer:

Day 1: The charm of the historic center and tradition

  • Morning: start from Piazza Maggiore. Admire the Basilica of San Petronio and climb the Asinelli Tower for a breathtaking view (book in advance!).
  • Lunch: a must-stop in the Quadrilatero for a platter of mortadella and crescentine.
  • Afternoon: stroll under the UNESCO-listed porticoes to Piazza Santo Stefano (the Seven Churches).
  • Evening: enjoy a traditional or gourmet dinner at Ristorante Corbezzoli, then spend the night at Relais Bellaria, to recharge surrounded by greenery away from the city chaos.

Day 2: Grand Tour Italia and the world of Fantozzi

  • Morning: head to Grand Tour Italia. Dedicate at least 2–3 hours to the Fantozzi exhibition and take the opportunity to explore the pavilions showcasing Italy’s regional gastronomic excellence.
  • Lunch: inside Grand Tour Italia you’ll be spoiled for choice among the best Italian regional flavors.
  • Afternoon: return toward San Lazzaro di Savena for a visit to the Parco dei Gessi Bolognesi, or, if you prefer shopping, stop by the fashion districts near the venue.

Why choose Relais Bellaria for your “Fantozzi-style weekend”

Unlike the “tragic” organization of Megaditta corporate trips, your stay in Bologna should be all about relaxation.

Relais Bellaria Hotel is the strategic choice for visiting the exhibition at Grand Tour Italia:

  1. Location: just a few minutes by car from the exhibition center and Grand Tour Italia, avoiding the traffic of the city center.
  2. Free parking: no fines or restricted traffic zones—a luxury that Accountant Fantozzi would certainly have appreciated!
  3. 4-star comfort: after a day among posters and satire, enjoy the tranquility of our park and the design of our rooms.

The exhibition runs until March 29, 2026. Don’t make any “Fantozzi-style mistakes”: plan ahead!
